Owen Coyle saus that Bolton need "strength of character" in order to escape the relegation zone.

Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has said that his team need "strength of character" in order to escape the relegation zone.

The Trotters are currently second-from-bottom in the Premier League table with six points from 10 games, and their most recent defeat came at the hands of Swansea, who saw off Bolton 3-1 on Saturday.

"I wish I was out there myself instead of bellowing from the sidelines," Coyle said.

"We need to meet this situation head-on and stand up to be counted.

"We need strength of character, and players who cross that white line believing in themselves and their ability.

"If we want to feel sorry for ourselves, we're in the wrong game because football is ruthless – the opposition will run over the top of you."

Bolton's next match comes on Sunday against Stoke, who dumped Bolton out of the FA Cup semi-final last season with a 5-0 victory at Wembley.
