Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba is discharged from the London Chest Hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest last month.

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba has been discharged from the London Chest Hospital.

The 24-year-old has been at the medical facility in Bethnal Green since suffering a cardiac arrest during a match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, March 17.

Upon on his release, Muamba took the opportunity to thank the staff that had been caring for him over the past month.

"I am naturally very pleased to be discharged from hospital and would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to every single member of staff at the London Chest Hospital who have played a part in my care," Muamba said in a statement.

"Their dedication, professionalism and expertise is simply amazing and I will forever be in their debt. I also wish to say thank you to all the many well-wishers who have sent thousands of messages of support.

"Now I am out of hospital, I am looking forward to continuing my recovery and spending precious time with my family."

It is now expected that the former England youth international will continue his recovery at a hospital nearer his home in the North West of England.
