Sunderland make Kevin Davies enquiry

Owen Coyle confirms that Sunderland have made an enquiry for Kevin Davies.

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that they have received an enquiry from Sunderland regarding the availability of Kevin Davies.

The striker has been linked away with a move away from the Reebok Stadium after falling out of favour this term.

However Owen Coyle has reinforced his stance on Davies's future and insists that he is eager to keep his captain at the club.

"Martin [O'Neill] rang me and I told him Kevin has a big part to play and I don't want him going anywhere. But you can't stop clubs enquiring, I do that myself," said Coyle.

"There is no offer. I think he loves the football club and he's shown that.

"He's been a credit to himself and us. But it's not easy when you are not in the starting lineup."

O'Neill is looking to strengthen the Black Cats' forward line following the departures of Darren Bent and Asamoah Gyan.
