Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is considering a move for Besiktas striker Hugo Almeida, according to the Sunderland Echo.
The powerful forward, 27, has scored ten goals in 21 games for Besiktas this season but has reportedly fallen out with the club over finances.
The Turkish club are unlikely to entertain bids of less than £3m, but O'Neill is said to be keen to take him on loan until the end of the season.
Almeida, a Portuguese international, has scored 15 goals in 39 caps for his country.
