Borussia Dortmund's Thomas Tuchel: 'We deserved to lose'

Thomas Tuchel admits that Borussia Dortmund deserved to be punished for their performance in the loss to Hamburger SV.

Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Borussia Dortmund's performance in the loss to Hamburger SV fell below his standards as they wasted an opportunity to put pressure on Bayern Munich.

A surprisingly comfortable win for Hamburg left Dortmund five points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayern, and Tuchel was unable to hide his disappointment when reflecting on a damaging defeat.

"The first half was dramatically different to how we want to play, what we demand of ourselves," he told Sky Sports Deutschland. "We deserved to be punished.

"We started carelessly. With this body language, this performance, we won't win anything anywhere."

Bayern can move eight points clear by beating Schalke 04 on Saturday.
