Callum Wilson ruled out for rest of season with knee injury

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson is ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing his ACL.

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.

The 24-year-old ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during training on Wednesday, with scans today confirming the severity of the problem.

Wilson, who also missed a large chunk of last season with a ruptured ACL in his other knee, is expected to be sidelined for six months and could return in time for the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

"We are all devastated for Callum. What's important now is that he receives the support and love of his family and friends, teammates and everyone associated with AFC Bournemouth," manager Eddie Howe told the club's official website.

"Callum showed incredible character and determination to come back from a similar set-back last season and we know he has the same strength and will to do the same again."

Wilson has scored six goals in 21 appearances for Bournemouth this season.
