Brighton & Hove Albion secure home win against Leicester City

Brighton & Hove Albion have beaten Leicester City with Ashley Barnes grabbing a brace in a 3-1 win.

Brighton & Hove Albion have beaten Leicester City at home in the Championship.

The first chance came with four minutes on the clock when Danny Drinkwater drove forward and forced Peter Brezovan into a smart save.

However, shortly after David Lopez put in a low cross to the back post, which Ashley Barnes lifted over Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Rohan Ince then headed over as the home team looked for a second, but they needed a last-ditch block from Matthew Upson to deny Jamie Vardy a clear shot at goal.

The Foxes looked dangerous on the attack, but they were soon 2-0 down. Lopez again was the provider as he picked out Craig Conway, who took the ball down before finding the back of the net with a volley.

The early stages of the second half were devoid of many chances for either side, although Andrew Crofts did produce a decent stop by Schmeichel with a long-range shot.

However, the Foxes found a way back into the game with 64 minutes gone. Antony Knockaert whipped in a free kick, which Andy King headed in at the back post.

Brezovan was called into action again, saving from Gary Taylor-Fletcher and King as the away team pushed for an equaliser.

However, Brighton made sure of the win when Barnes fired home from the penalty spot after he had been brought down.
