Burnley boss Vincent Kompany allegedly has little interest in becoming the next coach of Belgium.

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has been tipped to reject any approach to become the next manager of Belgium.

Last week, the Red Devils were eliminated from the World Cup before the knockout stages after finishing behind Morocco and Croatia in Group F.

As a result, long-serving coach Roberto Martinez opted to end his time in charge of the nation, leaving a role that he had held since June 2016.

Belgium will now begin the process of acquiring a replacement before their qualifying campaign for Euro 2024, which begins in March.

Kompany, a former defender and captain of the national team, has been tipped to emerge as a contender for the position after impressing during his ongoing stint with Burnley.

The Clarets currently sit three points clear at the top of the Championship standings and Kompany has lost just two of his 23 matches in charge.

As a result, club officials are said to have concerns that they will soon be receiving contact from officials at the Belgian Football Association with regards to the services of the 36-year-old.

Nevertheless, according to Het Nieuwsblad journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen, Kompany has no intention of managing Belgium at this stage of his managerial career.

Speaking to RTBF, Calcoen said: "He is interested in the position of coach of De Rode Duivels and the national team will come to him one day or another, but it is not the right timing. He wants to stay and blend body and soul into the process initiated at Burnley.

"According to the information I have obtained from Vincent Kompany's entourage, for the moment he would not be interested in the position of coach of De Rode Duivels. He wants to continue to raise the club, to make it progress, he wants to continue his adventure."

Belgium are expected to be a team very much in transition over the coming months with the news that captain Eden Hazard will no longer be a part of the squad.

The Real Madrid playmaker announced on Wednesday morning that he was bringing an end to his international career after contributing 33 goal and 36 assists from 126 appearances.
