Burnley boss Sean Dyche: 'Our plan came together against Newcastle United'

Burnley manager Sean Dyche says that everything went to plan for his team in Monday night's victory over Newcastle United.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has spoken of his delight at overseeing his team secure a slender win over Newcastle United at Turf Moor on Monday night.

Jeff Hendrick scored the one and only goal, which came in the 74th minute of the encounter.

The result has moved the Clarets up to seventh in the Premier League table, level on points with Liverpool.

When asked for his reaction by Sky Sports News, Dyche said: "Very pleased. I said before I'd be surprised if it wasn't a tight game, they have a quality manager who knows how to organise a side.

"It's respect to our team when sides come here and are organised and try not to be too expansive. We tried to mix our play and stay calm on the ball. You still have to probe and find a way of winning a game and we've done that tonight.

"It's always good to have a plan on a piece of paper and it doesn't always pan out as you planned it, tonight it did. They had some good chances and we had to counteract that. It's a very strong start to the season. People have talked about home form but that was written off tonight."

Burnley have won four, drawn four and lost just two in the top flight so far this season.
