Burnley plan to appoint an interim manager to take over from Sean Dyche until the end of the season, according to a report.

Burnley are reportedly planning to appoint a temporary successor for Sean Dyche until the end of the current season.

The 50-year-old was surprisingly relieved of his duties on Friday morning after nearly 10 years in the Turf Moor dugout, with the Clarets 18th in the Premier League table with seven games left to play.

Under-23s boss Mike Jackson oversaw operations for the weekend's draw with West Ham United, while Ben Mee was also on the touchline due to his fitness issues.

According to The Athletic, Burnley hope to welcome an interim manager to Turf Moor in the coming days before conducting a search for Dyche's permanent successor in the summer.

The report adds that chairman Alan Pace has already begun the interview process with several candidates and is hopeful of making an announcement over a new temporary boss before Thursday's clash with Southampton.

Dyche posted 152 wins from 425 games in charge of Burnley since taking over in 2012, and survival specialist Sam Allardyce has unsurprisingly been linked with the job at Turf Moor.
