Burton Albion topple league leaders Shrewsbury Town

Former Leicester City defender George Taft volleys in Burton Albion's winner to knock Shrewsbury Town off of the top of League Two.

George Taft scored his first senior goal to help Burton Albion defeat League Two leaders Shrewsbury Town this afternoon.

After a fairly contested first 45 minutes, it was the Brewers that took advantage in the first quarter-of-an-hour of the second half.

The goal came from an out-swinging Matthew Palmer corner, which the centre-half leaped off the floor to volley in with his left foot.

Shrewsbury had the majority of possession and chances but couldn't get past a solid Burton defence.

The win puts Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side above Shrewsbury in second but a point behind Wycombe Wanderers, after they beat Hartlepool United 1-0.
