Bury brush Accrington Stanley aside

Bury jump seven places to 15th in the League Two table after beating 10-man Accrington Stanley 3-0 to record their first win of the season.

Bury have jumped seven places to 15th in the League Two table by recording their first win of the season.

The Shakers beat 10-man Accrington Stanley 3-0 at Gigg Lane thanks to goals from Anton Forrester, Jordan Sinnott and Marlon Jackson.

Forrester broke the deadlock on 28 minutes when he finished off a classy team move with a low right-footed shot at the far post.

Stanley's uphill task became even harder moments later when Danny Webber was shown a straight red card for a late tackle on Shaun Beesley.

It took Bury just five minutes to capitalise on their numerical advantage. Craig Jones and Tom Soares combined to set up Sinnott, who finished clinically.

Accrington enjoyed sustained periods of possession in the second half, but they rarely threatened to spark a comeback.

The result was finally put beyond doubt with three minutes remaining, Jackson stroking home from close range.
