Russell Slade encouraged by Cardiff City's draw against Blackburn Rovers

Russell Slade believes that Cardiff City are showing signs of improvement on the field following their latest draw at home to Blackburn Rovers.

Cardiff City boss Russell Slade has admitted to having mixed feelings following his side's 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers last night.

The Bluebirds looked to have won the game six minutes from time when Sean Morrison broke the deadlock in South Wales, although Rudy Gestede came back to haunt his former club at the death to ensure that the spoils were shared.

Despite seeing his side take just 12 points from the same number of outings, Slade believes that the signs have been encouraging of late.

"We had good periods of control and when we got that goal in the 84th minute we thought it might be enough," he is quoted as saying by Wales Online.

"But the only time we didn't defend as well as we ought to have done was when they scored because he went past two players and we had the opportunity to clear the ball and not done so. That's a disappointment but there were lots of positives and encouraging signs.

"When I came in I said we needed more pace, energy and power, and I see it developing. Albeit it you might think painfully slowly – and you could be right – but I do see it coming. And that's my stamp on the side, that's what I asked for and told you what I was looking for."

Cardiff are now 15th in the Championship table, sitting seven points above the relegation zone.
