Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 'Criticism of Wilfried Zaha is unfair'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that Wilfried Zaha hasn't deserved the criticism he has received recently.

Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed that Wilfried Zaha has been the recipient of unfair criticism recently.

Zaha, who is on loan at the club from Manchester United, saw his performance as a substitute in the 4-0 defeat to Sunderland on Sunday questioned, but Solskjaer doesn't believe it was right to criticise the winger's work-rate.

"He comes on, we have 10 men and if you look at the stats, he ran more than anyone else in that half," the Norwegian told reporters. "So I don't think it is fair to single out the boy when he has run miles more than average.

"Had anyone have wanted, they could have highlighted two or three things that Wilf did great and they would have said 'look at the impact he has had'.

"I didn't think it was fair, and he has a point to prove. Of course he's hurt, as are his family and friends."

Zaha is expected to be involved when Cardiff face Newcastle United on Saturday.
