Guy Luzon: 'Charlton Athletic have a good base'

New Charlton Athletic manager Guy Luzon admits that he is inheriting a squad with a "good base" after being appointed successor to Bob Peeters at The Valley.

Guy Luzon has said that he is joining a club with a "good base of players" after being appointed as Charlton Athletic manager.

The 39-year-old Israeli has quickly been installed as successor to Bob Peeters, who was sacked on Sunday with the Addicks 14th in the Championship table.

Luzon has promised to instil his winning mentality on a squad which he feels may only need minor improvements in the January transfer window.

"I have only been here 20 hours and I am focused now on the game against Watford and after that we will see," he told reporters.

"Charlton has a good base of players in the squad and we need to fix what we need to to improve the team.

"I hope that with every game the fans know that we have given 100 per cent. I'm the kind of guy who hates to lose and loves to win. Football is my love, it's my passion."

Luzon's managerial resume includes spells with Standard Liege, Hapoel Tel Aviv and the Israel Under-21 team.
