Huddersfield Town battle back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Charlton Athletic, despite being down to 10 men.

Ten-man Huddersfield Town battled well in the second half to secure a 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

The Terriers nearly took an early lead when Adam Clayton's shot was cleared off the line before Peter Clarke missed an open goal on the rebound.

Ricardo Fuller had Charlton's first chance when he robbed Joel Lynch and drove into the box, but the Jamaican striker's shot was blocked well.

Huddersfield went down to 10 men after 34 minutes when Keith Southern was shown a red card by the referee for a foul on Michael Morrison, leaving the away side's bench furious with the decision.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, the second half saw both sides push on in search for the opening goal.

It was Charlton who took the lead after 60 minutes. Johnnie Jackson anticipated Clarke's clearance perfectly, allowing Bradley Pritchard to drill the ball into Hulse for a simple finish to make it 1-0.

Huddersfield were handed a late lifeline when Chris Solly accidentally kicked Clarke in the head as he went to clear the ball, giving away a penalty.

Adam Clayton stepped up and made no mistake from the spot to make it 1-1.
