Chelsea officials condemn chants directed at QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.

Chelsea officials have condemned the actions of travelling fans after the Blues' clash with Genk last night was marred by chants directed at Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

John Terry is accused of making a racist comment towards Ferdinand during QPR's recent 1-0 win over the Blues.

Terry is now facing both an FA investigation and a Metropolitan Police probe over the alleged racist remark.

Last night, fans could be heard chanting: "Anton Ferdinand, you know what you are."

When asked about the chants after the game, manager Andre Villas-Boas denied being aware, saying: "I did not hear it, I was concentrating on the game."

However, Chelsea later released a statement condemning the chants.

"The chants were wholly inappropriate. We do not condone it," a spokesman said.

Terry was left on the bench for the Champions League group clash, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
