Queens Park Rangers co-owner Amit Bhatia and captain Joey Barton call for the use of video replays.

Queens Park Rangers co-owner and vice chairman Amit Bhatia has called for the use of video replays in matches after his side went out of the FA Cup at the hands of Chelsea on Saturday.

Chelsea's only goal was a penalty scored by Juan Mata, awarded to the Blues when Daniel Sturridge appeared to be brought down in the box.

"Very unfortunate penalty. It's time to allow the challenge system in football," Bhatia tweeted.

"We have to have some kind of video replay system so that harsh decisions can be reviewed.

"Mistakes are made because decisions are difficult. Why not allow those difficult decisions to be reviewed? One challenge per half per manager wouldn't slow the game any more than 30 seconds."

Rangers captain Joey Barton appeared to back the case for the use of technology.

He tweeted: "This is why referees should be allowed to look at penalty and straight red card decisions, during the game.

"These things are happening every week, something needs to be done. Ruining the game...."

The Football Association recently claimed that technology could be introduced into the Premier League next season.
