Chelsea boss Antonio Conte: 'Alvaro Morata could return for Huddersfield game'

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte says that Alvaro Morata is likely to return to the first-team squad for Wednesday's Premier League fixture with Huddersfield Town.

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has revealed that the injury which kept Alvaro Morata out of the squad to face Liverpool is "not serious".

Morata has struggled with fitness issues since the start of 2018, and the Spaniard was not involved as a header from Olivier Giroud earned Chelsea a 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon.

The absence of Morata led to Chelsea having no recognised striker on the bench, but Conte has suggested that the summer signing could be involved against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night.

At a press conference, the 48-year-old told reporters: "It is not serious. In my mind he will be in contention for the game against Huddersfield.

"I hope to recover him because today on the bench we did not have a striker. It is very difficult to prepare another player in your mind if you have two strikers and one is injured."

Chelsea will move level on points with Liverpool in the top-flight standings with success against the Terriers at Stamford Bridge.
