Teenager Nathan Ake says that he is "very happy and proud" to make his debut for Chelsea against Norwich City on Wednesday.

Chelsea midfielder Nathan Ake has expressed his delight at making his debut for the Blues on Boxing Day.

The 17-year-old came on as a substitute in the London club's 1-0 away victory over Norwich City in the Premier League.

"I was nervous when I was brought on," Ake told the club's official website. "But it was 1-0, so I thought I should just do my job.

"The coach [Rafael Benitez] gave a few assignments and he told me to enjoy it. Afterwards the players congratulated me, this was very nice.

"Of course, I'm now very happy and proud, but at the same time I realise that I need to keep working hard because this is just the beginning."

Ake joined Chelsea from Feyenoord in 2011.
