Andre Villas-Boas dismisses Frank Lampard rumours

Andre Villas-Boas denies reports linking Frank Lampard with a move to LA Galaxy.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has denied reports that Frank Lampard could be on his way to LA Galaxy.

Lampard, 33, has been reduced to a bit-part role in recent weeks, prompting speculation over the midfielder's future at Stamford Bridge.

However, despite being left on the bench for Tuesday's UEFA Champions League match against Valencia, Villas-Boas insists that Lampard is not on his way to Major League Soccer.

"We have a lot of competence in the team. Everybody is challenging for their place. The conversation for Lamps is exactly the same for all of the players," said Villas-Boas.

"All of them are competing to be the best, to be in the starting eleven. All of them deserve credit and he'll turn things around for sure."

Lampard has been a mainstay in the Chelsea starting lineup since joining in 2001, scoring 177 goals in 529 appearances for the club.
