Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly keen to run the rule over one of the club's loanees during the final week of the season.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly keen to assess the development of one of the club's loanees during the final week of the season.

The Blues are currently focused on trying to finish in the top seven of the Premier League table in an effort to secure European qualification for 2024-25.

Should Chelsea prevail in their remaining three fixtures against Nottingham Forest, Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth, they will achieve that target.

Preparation is currently underway for the trip to the City Ground, a stadium where Forest have generally impressed against the division's best teams this campaign.

When the Chelsea senior squad return to training next week ahead of the Brighton encounter, it appears they will be joined by a player who has spent the season elsewhere.

Hutchinson to feature in Chelsea training

According to The Athletic, Pochettino wants to take advantage of Ipswich Town's automatic promotion to briefly welcome Omari Hutchinson back into the fold.

Hutchinson was allowed to spend the season at Portman Road to further his development having previously only accumulated 49 minutes of senior football.

While Hutchinson did not always start for Ipswich in the Championship, the Jamaica international emerged as a key player, missing just two of their 46 matches.

The 20-year-old contributed an impressive 10 goals and six assists as Kieran McKenna's side secured promotion to the Premier League without the need of participating in the playoffs.

After the celebrations that followed the win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday, Hutchinson is now having a week off, but the report claims that he will be at Chelsea's training facilities next week.

Chelsea yet to decide on Hutchinson future

In the immediate aftermath of Ipswich securing promotion, Hutchinson admitted that he would welcome another season back at the East Anglian outfit in the Premier League.

McKenna has also acknowledged that he wants to see the former Arsenal youngster return to the club, but Chelsea are seemingly in no rush to make a decision.

Pochettino is said to have plans to discuss Hutchinson's future with him, and talks seem likely with other club officials ahead of 2024-25.

If Chelsea do allow Hutchinson to go back out on loan, there appears to be a high probability that he will return to Ipswich given the success of this season.

Given that Chelsea need to boost their position with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules, there also remains the possibility of Hutchinson being sold to Ipswich with the inclusion of a buy-back clause.

Ipswich may also take the view that it would benefit them, given that they are now restricted in the amount of players that they can loan from other Premier League clubs.
