Chelsea facing points deduction?

Chelsea are reportedly facing a points deduction for the mass brawl at Manchester City last weekend.

Chelsea could reportedly be docked points for failing to control players during last weekend's victory at Manchester City.

The two sides were involved in a huge brawl in the dying seconds of the encounter after City striker Sergio Aguero brought down Blues defender David Luiz. Aguero and Fernandinho were sent off for their part in the ensuing fight, which involved all 22 players, as well as substitutes and coaches from both teams.

The FA has charged both clubs with a breach of rule E20, covering player behaviour, which usually comes with a heavy fine.

Chelsea have now breached the rule five times in the space of 19 months, however, and according to the Sunday Mirror, the FA is considering whether to impose a points deduction for the repeat offenders.

Last season the FA issued a written warning to Chelsea for their players' "abysmal" behaviour in the derby with Tottenham Hotspur, in addition to fining them £375,000.

The last time a points deduction was issued in the top flight was in the 1990-91 season, when Arsenal were docked two points and Manchester United one point for a mass brawl in their encounter at Old Trafford.

Chelsea currently have a three-point advantage at the top of the table.
