Steve Clarke has insisted that John Terry can be a "key member" of the Chelsea team under Antonio Conte's management next season.
Centre-back Terry confirmed earlier this year that he will leave the Blues at the end of the campaign, having not been offered an extension to his expiring contract.
However, former Chelsea defender and coach Clarke has encouraged incoming Conte to retain the 35-year-old's services.
"I think he should keep John, even if it's just to help him settle into the club," he told Sky Sports News.
"He might not be able to play every game, but he shows that when he does play and is fit, he is a key member of the team."
Terry has made 701 appearances for the West Londoners, from which he has scored 66 goals.
