Chelsea's Ashley Cole: 'I owe Jose Mourinho'

Ashley Cole feels that he owes Jose Mourinho as he believes that he was not at his best during the Portuguese's his first spell at Chelsea.

Chelsea defender Ashley Cole believes that he owes manager Jose Mourinho after putting in substandard performances in the Portuguese's first spell at the club.

The England international signed for the Blues in August 2006 in a protracted £5m move from Arsenal, which saw William Gallas head in the other direction.

Cole told reporters: "Having the manager back now from 2006, when he bought me, I still feel I owe him something.

"I didn't play as well as I could when he bought me, or as well as I have for Chelsea since he left.

"So I owe him a lot, personally. Having the manager back, we can do it all together. As players we owe it to the manager to win the Premier League or the Champions League again."

Since his arrival at Chelsea, the 32-year-old has won the Premier League and Champions League as well as the FA Cup four times.
