Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has said that he is pleased with the club's progress, despite their 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium last night.
Di Matteo, whose side had won four games out of four under his management prior to last night's defeat, insists that the club must look at the positives following their recent run of form.
"We are disappointed," he said. "We did well to almost get something out of it. We knew it would be tough.
"It's a setback but we look forward to the future. Two weeks ago we were seven points behind third place and now we're six points behind.
"We're going in the right direction and we've proved we can compete with the best teams in the league."
Chelsea remain in fifth place in the Premier League following the defeat.
