Lucio: 'Jose Mourinho will turn it around at Chelsea'

Brazilian defender Lucio backs his former boss at Inter Milan Jose Mourinho to solve Chelsea's early-season woes.

Ex-Inter Milan defender Lucio has backed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho to turn things around at Stamford Bridge following a testing start to the season.

The Premier League champions have endured their worst start to a top-flight campaign in 38 years under Mourinho after picking up eight points from a possible 24.

The Portuguese alleviated some pressure on himself after the Blues beat Aston Villa last weekend, and Lucio, who helped the 52-year-old to a historic treble at San Siro in 2010, is certain that he will solve Chelsea's woes.

"It is not easy to stay at the top all the time. Knowing him, he is not happy with the situation as well. But, 100% he will come out of it and be back at the top very soon. He is capable of it and will do it," he told IBTimes.

"Whenever the team loses, Mourinho is never smiling in the next training session. He always wants to win every game.

"At Inter, when we lost a match once, all of us avoided him in the next training. I ran past him not even looking at his face. But for me, he is the best manager I have played under in my career."

Mourinho and co - who sit 12th in the table - face West Ham United at Upton Park on Saturday.
