Jose Mourinho has declared that Chelsea will be title challengers throughout next season with the addition of a "couple of players".
The Blues finished the campaign in third place in the Premier League following their comeback victory against Cardiff City earlier today.
Chelsea have been linked with a number of players ahead of this summer, including Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.
"We are not asking for eight, nine or 10 years to achieve success," Mourinho is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "You can't click your fingers and success arrive. We don't need a new spine, we don't need a new structure. The structure is there.
"The fundamental now for us is a couple of players of a certain level to help the team go to a new level. Today, we played with Oscar, Hazard, Salah - young people in creative areas and the team played well. I am happy.
"I wish to start the next pre-season as soon as possible. Next season, if we do our work in a successful way during the summer market, I want to start day one saying that we are going to fight for the title."
Manchester City secured the Premier League title courtesy of a 2-0 victory over West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium.
