Fabrice Muamba backs Chelsea for title

Former Bolton Wanderers star Fabrice Muamba tips Chelsea for the Premier League title.

Former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba has claimed that Chelsea will win the Premier League title.

Muamba thinks that the strength in depth of the division makes it difficult to call, but believes that Jose Mourinho's side will eventually end up on top when the final whistle sounds in May.

"This is probably the toughest season in terms of who might win the league," Muamba told the Manchester Evening News.

"Manchester United have got a new manager (Louis van Gaal) and new players, Arsenal have spent big time - which is not like Arsenal - while Chelsea have Didier Drogba back and Diego Costa has come in so they have three or four options they might not have had before.

"Liverpool have lost Luis Suarez so that's 30 goals gone to someone else so we will have to see if they can replace him. Manchester City have been a bit shaky so far but it looks to be anyone's title. However, I just think Jose Mourinho will go at it this time and do what he wants."

Muamba was forced to retire in 2012 after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Bolton against Tottenham Hotspur.
