Jamie Redknapp: 'Jose Mourinho to blame for Chelsea slump'

Jamie Redknapp believes that the responsibility for Chelsea's poor start to the Premier League season lies solely on the shoulders of manager Jose Mourinho.

Jamie Redknapp has put the blame for Chelsea's poor start to the season on the shoulders of manager Jose Mourinho.

The Blues lost for the seventh time in 12 matches as Marko Arnautovic fired Stoke City to a 1-0 victory in their clash at the Britannia Stadium.

Redknapp believes that the club's downfall is due to the erratic behaviour of the Portuguese this season as he has been involved in several high-profile incidents, which led to his one-match stadium ban for the game against the Potters.

"This time after 12 games last season they had not lost, now they've lost seven matches - something is dramatically wrong," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"It can't be right. They breezed the league last year, to be in this situation is unprecedented, I can't remember a team ever performing like this after winning the title.

"Mourinho has to take a lot of responsibility for that; the club doctor [situation], taking John Terry off at half-time against Man City, subbing Nemanja Matic on and off - he's the best player you've got - Eden Hazard's form, a stadium ban, how many more things can there be?"

Chelsea are 16th in the Premier League following their defeat to the Potters.
