Gianfranco Zola has suggested that Chelsea are "working" on securing the managerial appointment of Maurizio Sarri.
Reports have frequently claimed that Sarri will replace Antonio Conte in the Stamford Bridge dugout but so far, no changes have been made despite the new season drawing ever closer.
Zola could feature as part of Sarri's backroom staff, and the Chelsea legend has appeared to confirm that negotiations are currently being held behind the scenes.
The former attacker told Sky: "There's so much talk. There are many teams who would like a coach like Sarri. I think the parties are working on it, but I don't know anything more.
"Antonio Conte? He did a great job. If Sarri were to go to Chelsea I hope he's allowed to work as he wants, because that's how he can improve teams.
"It's definitely a different challenge, Chelsea is a new situation. I hope Maurizio will get the chance to do top work."
Napoli will be due compensation should Sarri take on a new role before next summer.
