Chelsea board 'growing tired of Antonio Conte excuses'

A report claims that Chelsea chiefs have grown tired of the growing list of excuses used by Antonio Conte during the club's second-worst start to a season since 2003.

Antonio Conte's position as Chelsea manager is reportedly under threat as club chiefs are growing increasingly tired of his excuses to explain underwhelming results.

The Blues' Premier League title defence has got off to a shaky start following defeats to Burnley, Manchester City and Crystal Palace in their first eight games.

Chelsea are three games without a win in all competitions, meanwhile, having thrown away a two-goal lead to eventually draw 3-3 with Roma in the Champions League in midweek.

Conte is beginning to feel the heat at Stamford Bridge and, according to The Sun, a post-match meeting was called on the back of the home match with Roma on Wednesday.

The report suggests that senior officials have even started predicting what excuse will be used next by the Italian, who has most recently cited fixture congestion and a growing injury list.

Chelsea's run of three defeats in eight games is their second-worst start to a Premier League season since Roman Abramovich took over in 2003.
