The Spanish giants will make a bid of around £13m for the 31-year-old, according to The Mirror.
Cole was the subject of transfer talk last summer, when reports linked him to a move to Spanish side Real Madrid, but Chelsea retained the left-back.
Cole signed for Chelsea from Arsenal for £5m in 2006.
