Barcelona 'want to sign Willian in January'

Barcelona want to sign Brazil attacker Willian from Chelsea during the January transfer window, according to a report.

Barcelona are reportedly determined to sign Chelsea attacker Willian during the January transfer window.

The Brazil international will see his current deal at Stamford Bridge expire at the end of the 2019-20 campaign, meaning that he would be free to discuss a pre-contract with foreign clubs at the start of 2020.

Barca have been strongly linked with the 31-year-old in recent weeks, and according to El Desmarque, Ousmane Dembele's continued injury problems mean that the Spanish champions want to complete a January deal.

Ernesto Valverde's side could agree a contract with Willian next month with a view to the South American arriving at Camp Nou ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

However, by agreeing a transfer fee with Chelsea they would, in theory, be able to sign the attacker in January.

Willian has scored five times in 24 appearances for the Blues during the 2019-20 campaign and has featured in all but one of the club's 19 Premier League matches under Frank Lampard.
