Chelsea transfer news: Galatasaray 'showing interest' in unused midfielder

Chelsea reportedly face a decision over how to handle interest from Galatasaray in one of their unused players during 2024-25.

Galatasaray are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka before the end of the Turkish transfer window.

Bidding to win a third Super Lig title in succession, Galatasaray have already made some high-profile additions during the summer.

Most notably, Victor Osimhen has arrived on a season-long loan deal from Napoli, but there is a desire to add another central-midfielder to their ranks.

With transfer deadline day for Turkish clubs being on Friday, Okan Buruk and club officials have minimal time to strengthen their squad with another player who could potentially make a difference.

Nevertheless, according to TEAMtalk, the Yellow-Reds have emerged as a potential destination for Chukwuemeka.

Chukwuemeka on Galatasaray radar

Despite completing 90 minutes in Enzo Maresca's first pre-season fixture in charge, the 20-year-old has been one of the many players who have not featured in a competitive match under the Italian.

Chelsea had been open to allowing the England Under-20 international to link up with another team on loan if it led to regular game time.

However, despite alleged interest from the likes of Manchester United and West Ham United, Chukwuemeka remained at Stamford Bridge past the August 30 deadline.

He has since been reintegrated back into the senior ranks by Maresca alongside Cesare Casadei, with the pair expected to receive game time in the EFL Cup and Europa Conference League.

With Maresca having taken that decision, it theoretically appears that a temporary exit has been taken off the table for each player.

That said, much may depend on the kind of proposal that arrives over the next 48 hours, Chelsea likely wanting to be rewarded financially and with guarantees over Chukwuemeka's playing time in order to accept any bid.

What is the state of play with the other fringe players?

As it stands, David Datro Fofana appears to be the only player who could be moved on over the next 48 hours with new terms having allegedly been agreed with AEK Athens.

No suitable offers have arrived for Ben Chilwell, something that Chelsea will hope changes with a temporary switch to Turkey still a possibility.

Harvey Vale, Alex Matos and Deivid Washington appear likely to stay put and feature in the Under-21s for the remainder of the year.
