Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink confirms Matt Miazga deal

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink confirms that American defender Matt Miazga will join the Blues from New York Red Bulls before Monday's transfer deadline.

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has confirmed that his club will sign Matt Miazga from New York Red Bulls this month.

The American has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs since the start of the January transfer window, but Chelsea have won the race to sign the 20-year-old.

"He is a promising player. We're not rushing but he will be one of the squad members for the future. [He is a] young guy, stepping up to the national team. You can see what players are capable of in training," Hiddink told reporters when questioned on the centre-back.

The defender will not need a work permit to complete a move due to the fact that he holds a Polish passport.

Hiddink has also revealed that his side are close to completing a loan move for Corinthians forward Alexandre Pato.
