Jose Mourinho: 'I hope Petr Cech stays at Chelsea'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho reveals that he is hoping to keep hold of goalkeeper Petr Cech, despite leaving him on the bench against Burnley.

Jose Mourinho has said that he wants to keep hold of Petr Cech, despite leaving the goalkeeper on the bench for Chelsea's first match of the new Premier League season.

Thibaut Courtois was preferred to the Czech for the 3-1 win over Burnley this evening, making his first competitive appearance for the club.

The manager told BBC Sport: "Petr Cech was disappointed but football is sometimes like this, players can often be unhappy and be unhappy with managers. But between the group of players and their mates they have to be supportive.

"I hope he doesn't want to go and I hope he doesn't have offers to go and if he does have offers he refuses to go. I would be delighted to have two of the best goalkeepers in the world in my squad."

The result leaves Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
