QPR are planning to launch a surprise bid for Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka in the winter transfer window, according to reports.
The Frenchman, 32, who is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the season, is expected to attract interest from a whole host of clubs. However, QPR boss Neil Warnock is prepared to make a late offer to secure his services before he hits the open market, according to The People.
The Loftus Road outfit are understood to be willing to offer the former Real Madrid man up to £90,000 a week to help them maintain their Premier League status, while offering Anelka a chance to remain in London.
With the emergence of strikers Daniel Sturridge and Romelu Lukaku, as well as Fernando Torres, opportunities are expected to be limited for the aging forward at Stamford Bridge.
