Head coach Maurizio Sarri has claimed that Chelsea have already exercised an option to keep Olivier Giroud at Stamford Bridge.
Giroud officially has less than three months remaining on his contract, and there have been suggestions that the Frenchman would prefer to find first-team football elsewhere.
However, Sarri has said that the Blues have made the decision to extend the World Cup winner's contract by a further 12 months.
The Italian told Sky Sports News: "He is sure, because the club has an option for another year, another season.
"I spoke to the club two days ago and we agreed to exercise the option, So he will remain."
Giroud has contributed 10 goals and three assists in 11 Europa League outings, but just seven starts have come in the Premier League.
