Crystal Palace reportedly launch a bid worth £8m to sign Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

Crystal Palace have reportedly launched a bid worth £8m to secure the signing of Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

The 28-year-old, who joined Everton in 2013, broke his leg in January 2018 and has since only made one appearance for the Toffees.

McCarthy, currently in the last year of his contract, was approached by West Bromwich Albion regarding a potential loan move in January but no deal ever materialised.

According to Sky Sports News, Palace, yet to spend any money in this window, have made an opening bid of £8m for McCarthy.

The Republic of Ireland international is unlikely to feature much at Goodison Park next season following the club's acquisition of midfielders Andre Gomes and Fabian Delph on permanent deals.

Palace are also reportedly in the market for Chile international Paulo Diaz, who is valued at £5m and seen as a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
