Peterborough United sign Jerome Binnom-Williams

Peterborough United sign Crystal Palace left-back Jerome Binnom-Williams on a free transfer.

League One side Peterborough United have completed the permanent signing of Crystal Palace left-back Jerome Binnom-Williams on a free transfer.

The 21-year-old, who has previously had loan stints in the division with Burton Albion and Leyton Orient, has penned a two-year contract at the ABAX Stadium.

"I was sitting down with the family and the girlfriend a few nights ago and I got a call from my agent saying that Peterborough were interested in taking me on a permanent deal and it was something that excited me," Binnom-Williams told the club's website.

"I am delighted to be here. I have been at Crystal Palace for a long time, so it was a big decision to leave, but I want to play football and it is down to me now to push for a place in the starting lineup."

Posh manager Grant McCann added: "Jerome was on our list from very early on. We didn't realise that we were able to sign him on a permanent deal so we are delighted to have been able to get it done.

"He is someone I watched last year at Burton and he did well and he had a good loan spell at Leyton Orient as well. I did say that I want competition for places and he provides that in the left-back area."

Peterborough begin the new League One season on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Rochdale.
