Steve McClaren has arrived at Pride Park for talks with Derby County over their managerial vacancy.
The Rams have been without a boss since Saturday evening when the board took the decision to part company with Nigel Clough, who had been in charge of the club since 2009.
Reports emerged this morning that former England manager McClaren, who is currently a coach at Queens Park Rangers, was the leading contender to fill the vacancy.
The speculation then gathered pace when QPR boss Harry Redknapp conceded that there was a "good chance" that he would lose McClaren's services.
Upon arriving at Pride Park, McClaren told Sky Sports News: "I'm just having a little chat and we will see how it goes. It's good to be back and hopefully things will work out"
McClaren spent three years as a player with Derby, before returning in 1995 to act as an assistant to Jim Smith.
