Derby County manager Steve McClaren has admitted that a deal to sign midfielder Kalifa Cisse on a free transfer could suit both the player and the club.
Cisse has spent the past month training with the Championship outfit, and after impressing McClaren, the former England boss has revealed that there is the possibility of a short-term contract for the Mali international.
The 52-year-old told the Derby Telegraph: "Kalifa is still with us and he is getting better and fitter each week.
"He played at Huddersfield and did very well. We had a chat with him and we said to him 'keep training with us' - which he is happy to do - and we will see where it leads.
"It suits both parties. It is a win-win situation for both of us. The possibility of a short-term deal could be there. We'll see how it goes."
The 29-year-old has been without a club since leaving New England Revolution.
