England striker Wayne Rooney has insisted that Three Lions striker Jermain Defoe should not be ignored as Euro 2012 advances into its latter stages.
Andy Carroll and Danny Welbeck both scored in England's 3-2 win over Sweden, and Rooney has praised the influence of the duo.
"I think first of all it's great for the team that we have forwards scoring goals. It's great for me, it's great competition, you need to be at your best to get in the team and stay in the team," he told reporters.
"I think they are different types of players, I know Danny very well and Andy has come in and he has done very well. He is a big old fashioned number nine... two very capable players of playing. We must also not forget Jermain, there are four strikers fighting for one or two places."
England need a point against Ukraine to book a spot in the last 16.
