Joe Hart: 'England squad is exciting'

England goalkeeper Joe Hart describes the squad for Euro 2016 as "exciting" and "fresh" ahead of their opening match against Russia.

England goalkeeper Joe Hart has labelled the current squad "exciting" and "fresh" ahead of their Euro 2016 campaign this summer.

Manager Roy Hodgson has named six players below the age of 23 in his squad for the tournament, while the likes of Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Dele Alli, Marcus Rashford and Eric Dier have all burst onto the scene since the World Cup two years ago.

Hart is one of the elder statesmen of the team, behind only Wayne Rooney and James Milner in terms of caps, but he insists that the whole squad are united heading into the tournament.

"It's exciting, fresh, there's a lot of youngsters so they are probably going to be a lot more comfortable than maybe other teams," Hart told reporters.

"But there's a good bond right the way through. I think it's well known that Wayne is at, I don't know if he's our oldest player, 30 years old such a key part of the squad, he's accessible to all the players, right the way through.

"You look at him doing the interview with Marcus, that's just how Wayne is. There's definitely a connection, age doesn't really factor into this team. We are one and we're all pushing in the right direction."

England get their campaign underway against Russia on Saturday before subsequent matches against Wales and Slovakia.
