Everton manager Roberto Martinez happy with squad depth

Everton manager Roberto Martinez insists that his squad is strong enough to cope with playing in multiple competitions this season.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has insisted that there is enough depth in his squad to cope with the Europa League.

Antolin Alacaraz is the latest member of the Toffees squad to be sidelined this season after he was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder.

Despite Alcaraz joining the likes of Bryan Oviedo and Kevin Mirallas on the treatment table, Martinez believes that he has a solid group of players to juggle multiple competitions.

"There is no such thing as a weakened side; we made sure we had a big enough squad to feature in all the competitions. We have 23 outfield players who have all showed what they can do - now it's about having that competitive edge," he is quoted as saying by Goal.com.

"We proved we are ready to face games having made changes and that doesn't mean we aren't taking things seriously. If we want to become a big club with a big mentality we need to be ready to face many games and I think we've responded really well."

Everton continue their Europa League campaign on Thursday night when they welcome Lille to Goodison Park.
