Seamus Coleman eager to nail down first-team place

Seamus Coleman wants to give Everton manager David Moyes a selection headache by putting in a good performance against Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

Everton's Seamus Coleman has said that wants to take advantage of Tony Hibbert's injury layoff by making the right-back position his own.

The Irishmam has started the last three games in his preferred defensive role, but knows that Hibbert will be pushing to get his place back when he returns from a calf problem.

"I am really enjoying getting a few games – all footballers want to play every week," the 23-year-old told the club's official website. "Sometimes you have to be patient and bide your time.

"Nobody is happy not to be playing. I had a good summer and got back for pre-season ready to go so hopefully I can have a good season.

"I know Tony will be back from injury soon and will be itching to get back in but I can only do well, hopefully get another chance to play well again at Wigan on Saturday and give the manager a bit of a headache."

Everton travel to the DW Stadium to face Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
