Phil Jagielka appeals for January recruits

Everton defender Phil Jagielka appeals to his teammates to maintain their solid form in a bid to make Goodison Park a more attractive proposition to January targets.

Phil Jagielka has urged his Everton teammates to maintain their form in an effort to make Goodison Park a more attractive proposition to the club's January targets.

The Toffees are among the surprise packages this season, with Roberto Martinez's men sustaining just one defeat all campaign- a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City - en route to fifth place in the Premier League.

With the winter transfer window looming, the England international feels that the manager's targets will be more receptive toward a move to Merseyside if the club remain in the hunt for a Champions League berth.

He told the Daily Post: "We have got ourselves into a good position and, if we pick up a few more wins before January, it will make us a more attractive team for players.

"The transfer market is always difficult as we do not have vast funds but, if the manager can bring in some players, then the boys already here will be thankful for that.

"We'd love to be up there in the Champions League places. We have our eyes on the top four but we know it will be difficult as there are five or six other clubs competing for those places."

Everton travel to Wales for a clash with Swansea City on Sunday.
