UEFA "deeply shocked" after Paris terror attacks

UEFA expresses "support and solidarity" to the people of France after a wave of terrorist attacks hits Paris.

European football's governing body UEFA has expressed its "support and solidarity" with the people of France after Friday night's terrorist attacks in Paris.

At least three people were killed outside the Stade de France after a series of explosions occurred while France took on Germany in a friendly international at the ground.

As a state of emergency was declared across France, Germany's squad was forced to stay in the stadium overnight before flying back to Frankfurt on Saturday.

A brief statement read: "UEFA is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic events which occurred in Paris last night and wishes to express its support and solidarity to France and to those affected by these horrible acts."

France will host an expanded European Championships next summer, with 24 teams and hundreds of thousands of supporters expected to visit the country for the competition.
