Liverpool chairman Tom Werner refuses to dismiss speculation linking his club with Fulham forward Clint Dempsey.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has hinted that Liverpool could make a bid for Fulham forward Clint Dempsey.

USA international Dempsey has been linked with a move to Anfield and Werner refused to dismiss rumours linking the club with his fellow American.

Werner told Goal.com: "We never talk publicly about our transfer targets. However, any team would be lucky to have Clint Dempsey playing on their squad."

Despite last summer's considerable investment in the playing squad, Werner has admitted that the club will be pressing on with the search for new recruits.

"We are confident that we will be making further progress in the future, and we are hard at work identifying transfer targets to help us continue to improve the squad," Werner added.

Liverpool are currently preparing to face Chelsea in Saturday's FA Cup final.
